This jigsaw puzzle, "House On Haunted Hill" (Springbok, 1973, no relation to the William Castle movie) strikes just the right balance of horror and humor. I remember, as a child, being slightly confused by the title... So the house itself isn't haunted, just the hill that it was built on?Take your time and explore...there's plenty of things to see.

This tea party doesn't seem too out of the ordinary...
...but this circus sideshow lady is definitely not your typical haunted house spook!

Oh my gosh--what a flood of memories *this* brings back! I spent countless rainy Saturdays assembling and disassembling this puzzle and poring over all the details with delight. Thanks for sharing these images--you've made my day :)

ReplyDeleteI looooved this puzzle. I came across this page by actually searching for that exact puzzle. I want to find one for sale because I can't find my original one. The details are just great, I remember finding something new every time I put it together. Springbox puzzles are the best.
ReplyDeleteI just picked this puzzle back up on ebay last week. I remember making his puzzle at least 100 times. It was one of my favorite things when I was younger (ok, it still is!)

ReplyDeleteThank you! I used to put this puzzle together all the time when I was a kid, and then later when my little sister was growing up. Wow. It's one of those things where you feel like you're the only kid in America playing with a particular toy, but thousands of other kids had it too, obviously.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I ran across this while working on a crafts project for school. I'm a Halloween nut, and this was a puzzle my sister had when we were kids. I must have done it about 20 times. Can't find on ebay - does anyone have a copy for sale?!?

ReplyDeleteI loved this puzzle as a kid. It was my favorite. I would spend hours doing this puzzle. Then my mom bought my brother the same one, except it was cut differently and we got the pieces mixed up so it became very hard to do both puzzles.

ReplyDeleteLoved and loved this puzzle!!! I would time myself to see how fast I could put it together!! I also loved all the characters and surprises this puzzle offered. I have one to still build and one that is framed!!! Again, great puzzle. Great childhood memories.
